Wildfire Resources for Solano County Residents

The RCD is wrapping up our post-fire recovery response after a few months of intense emergency efforts. We are so grateful to all of our partners who helped us jump into action to assist our community after the destruction of the LNU Lightning Complex Fire. With help and funds from Solano County, the Solano County Water Agency, the Natural Resources Conservation Service and the National Association of Conservation Districts, we were able to collectively visit and assess over 100 sites in the affected area. Some of our response efforts included staging straw, seeding wildflowers and native grasses, spreading straw for erosion control and clearing debris from priority areas in local creeks and culverts. While our work in response to the specific fire events of 2020 is complete, our doors are always open for questions and concerns surrounding erosion control issues, conservation plans and best management practices to address identified conservation concerns.

In the coming year we are shifting our focus to working with partners in Solano and Yolo Counties to improve wildfire preparedness and response throughout the region. It is our hope that all stakeholders, including landowners, agencies, and other interested groups, will work together to create a roadmap and actionable items for reducing fire risk in our District and throughout the region. We look forward to keeping you posted on this next chapter!
