The Annual Plant Sale is one of the best ways for the RCD to connect with our district and community. Every fall we host an informative workshop and sell California native and regionally appropriate plants. It is important to plant natives because they have evolved to live and flourish in Solano County's climate. This means that not only are they drought tolerant and require much less water to flourish, but they also provide habitat and nectar sources to support local and migratory beneficial insects, birds and wildlife. In urban areas, native gardens provide wildlife habitat and cover where none would otherwise exist. Supporting residents in transforming their lawns and high-water use areas into native, plant-based plantings is a standing commitment for the RCD.

During the plant sale, RCD staff will be on hand to answer all of your questions and give advice on landscaping with California native and regionally appropriated plants. This year’s workshop will focus on gardening with native wildflowers to attract bees, butterflies and other pollinators.
