Solano RCD Plant Sales

Each year, Solano RCD holds two plant sales to offer Solano County residents the opportunity to purchase native and water-wise plants and to talk with experts about ways to conserve resources and improve habitat.  Plant sales generally fall on the third Saturday of April and October.

Solano RCD staff, Board members and Solano County Master Gardeners are always on hand to assist you in choosing the proper native plants for your needs from more than 50 species of plants available for purchase. Some plants bring in birds and butterflies because of their flowers and berries, while some are good for controlling erosion because they develop densely-matted roots.  Some plants are good for pond edges and others do well in shady understories. 

Every plant sale also features free workshops. Topics range from "How to Replace Your Lawn with Native Drought Tolerant Species" to "Retro-fitting your Irrigation System for Better Landscape Health and Water Conservation," to "Maintaining Your Plants."  At least once a year, the Suisun Marsh Natural History Association or the UC Davis Raptor Center sets up displays  and offers presentations of native birds, reptiles and mammals from the watershed.

Plant sales take place at our Conservation Education Center (CEC), located at 6390 Lewis Road just outside of Vacaville. The CEC is a busy place. It serves as the field headquarters for all the RCD's restoration/conservation work, including propagating and growing native plants for projects. It also hosts workshops, training, and volunteer events, in addition to the plant sales.
