Watershed Groups

A Watershed Group is formed when several neighboring landowners begin working together to reduce flooding, protect water quality, prevent erosion, reduce weed populations, establish native plants, enhance wildlife habitat, etc... in their watershed.  The benefit of such groups is that by working together these neighbors are able to help one another better meet their individual goals.

For example: if Bob wants to eradicate yellow starthistle from his property, he will be much more successful if his two adjacent neighbors Ann and Tim also make efforts to eradicate the plant from their property as well; this way yellow starthistle seeds on their property won't get caught in the wind and start new plants on his property after he just finished an expensive spray treatment.

Solano RCD is actively working to establish Watershed Groups in Quail Canyon, along Pleasants Creek and along Alamo Creek.  If you are interested in joining one of these Watershed Groups, or starting a new Watershed Group in Solano County please contact Kathleen Robins at (707) 678-1655 x 3.
