Solano County Weed Management Area
At the 2014 annual public education meeting, JP Marie of the UC Davis Putah creek Riparian Reserve demonstrates various native grass planting techniques that can be used after weed control
Solano RCD chairs the Solano County Weed Management Area (WMA), a working group comprised of representatives from the following organizations who share the common goal of reducing invasive weed populations in Solano County:
- Solano Resource Conservation District
- UC Cooperative Extension
- Natural Resources Conservation Service
- Dixon Resource Conservation District
- Solano County Department of Agriculture
- Solano Land Trust
- Solano County Water Agency
- Syar Industries
- CAL Trans
The Solano County WMA holds quarterly partner meetings and an annual public education meeting open to agency staff, farmers, ranchers and landowners interested in invasive weed control.
Grants received by Solano County WMA have allowed us to target a number of different invasive weeds for control, including tree of heaven, arundo, and artichoke thistle.
